Blender Food
Processor
If you live in a small apartment it is a good idea to get
smaller appliances, or ones that do double duty such as a
compact, blender/food processor unit. They don't take up
a lot of counter space. But there can be a drawback. Many
of them sound like a jet plane taking off - enough so that you
could damage your hearing if you run it close to your ear - not
the recommended use.
The combination blender food processor might be small and
under powered for processing a lot of food at one time, but
depending on your needs you may be wiling to overlook there
shortcomings to save space. Most of them work well but mat not
always be an even consistency. Your food may get tossed to the
sides and not get processed as evenly as the rest. If you use
it to chop or slice it may result in juicier vegetables than
when using a knife. Some of them work well for grinding
meat.
Some of these combo u nits are not designed for ease of
cleaning so you need to know if buying a combo unit is worth
the tradeoff vs. using a knife or hand grater.
One thing that they are good for is making sauces and
smoothies. They are not really made for crushing ice but they
can blend frozen fruits fairly well.
As a blender the combo unit is fine but as a food processor
the results are not consistent. You may get over sized chunks,
or puree, with no middle ground.
A combination blender and food processor is good if you are
doing light cooking using small quantities. If you do regular
serious cooking then we would not recommend a combo unit.
